Late 15th century Italian woman’s ensemble, after the portrait of Ludovica Tornabuoni by Domenico Ghirlandaio (Florence, Santa Maria Novella, Tornabuoni Chapel, 1485-1490) | smock in cotton popeline with drawstring neck and cuffs; gamurra in Indian silk jacquard brocade lined in cotton, open front-laced bodice, knife-pleated trained skirt, vintage indian trim, brass buttons, cotton strings and brass aiglets, grosgrain piped stiffened hem, boned stomacher in silk dupioni shantung with cartridge pleated skirt, vintage Indian sari guard and trim, brass filigree flowers, tied sleeves with insert in dupioni shantung/velveteen patterned fabric and brass filigree flowers; giornea in Indian silk jacquard brocade, lined in cotton, grosgrain piped stiffened hem, same fabric belt with cotton strings and brass aiglets.
