Don Garzìa

Second half 16th century man’s ensemble, after the burial dress of Don Garzìa de’ Medici (1562, Florence, Pitti Palace, Museum of Costume and Fashion), with addictions from The Tailor Book manuscript (Venice, Querini Stampalia Foundation) | cotton shirt, collar and wrist ruffs edged with hand-tatted lace; padded/boned doublet in damask/chenille fabric, lined in satin with metallic loops and brass buttons on closure, slashed skirt and shoulder wings with shantung dupioni puffs, satin ribbon bows with brass aiglets; matching paned padded trunk hoses with slashed codpiece; sleeved compass cape in velvet, lined in cotton, with metallic trim and vintage pewter studs; a set of ruffle collar and cuffs in linen edged with bobbin lace; wired pickadil in shantung dupioni with antique metallic bobbin lace trim and freshwater pearls; woolen cap.
