Late 15th century Italian woman’s ensemble | smock in cotton popeline with drawstring neck and cuffs, openwork sleeves with crocheted lace inserts; gamurra in dupioni shantung/velveteen patterned fabric with boned front-and-side laced bodice and tied sleeves, lined in cotton, shantung/satin guards, synthetic pearls and brass aiglets, grosgrain piped stiffened hem; giornea in heavy damask (on the wrong side) lined in satin with silk cord and brass aiglets, grosgrain piped stiffened hem.
